Robotic Abrasive Blasting Booth
Robotic abrasive blasting booth is an automated surface treatment workstation that deeply integrates industrial robots, intelligent control systems with traditional sandblasting technology. It uses a closed sandblasting room as the carrier, and through a high-precision robotic arm equipped with a spray gun, it performs fully automatic, programmable, and highly consistent sandblasting (or shot blasting) operations on workpieces, completely replacing the traditional manual hand-held sandblasting operation.
Manual blasting is inherently limited by human factors, including operator fatigue, inconsistent nozzle operation, and ergonomic constraints. This is particularly true when using large-diameter nozzles (>12 mm), which require greater reaction force and precise trajectory control. These limitations directly affect the uniformity of surface profiles, process repeatability, and overall production efficiency.
To address these challenges, we have developed a fully automated robotic sandblasting system, specifically designed for industrial-scale surface treatment. The system operates in a high-pressure direct pressure mode (typically 6–8 bar), enabling stable use of large-aperture nozzles while precisely controlling the spray distance, impact angle, and movement speed.
advantages:
- Continuous unmanned sandblasting operation reduces the working cycle time by 40–60% compared to the manual method.
- With a 6-axis industrial robot featuring an IP67 protection rating, sub-millimeter path repeatability (±0.05 mm) is achieved.
- Optimize abrasive utilization through a closed-loop abrasive management system
- Double-chamber pressure sandblasting tank, equipped with automatic feeding and pressure regulation functions, ensuring stable sandblasting intensity

By precisely controlling the blasting angle and pressure, and matching the optimal abrasive media, the system achieves the desired surface cleanliness and roughness standards accurately.
Parts of a standard spinner hanger blasting machine
1) Sand Blasting Chamber
It is welded from steel plates and section steel, featuring sturdy sealing, heat insulation and sound insulation. The interior is protected by wear-resistant rubber guard plates, and the illumination of LED lighting exceeds 200 lux. An observation window is installed on the main door, which is equipped with a protective plate. An external air supply inlet is arranged on the top to keep the chamber in a slight negative pressure state during operation and prevent dust leakage.
2) Sandblasting machine assembly
Q0250LX-2 Double-Gun Continuous Shot Blasting Machine features large capacity for continuous operation. Equipped with durable boron carbide nozzles (service life ≥ 800 hours) and special high-pressure wear-resistant sandblasting hoses. It is fitted with a remote pneumatic handle for easy operation and sensitive response. The pneumatic sand valve delivers high sand output, convenient regulation and uniform sand discharge.
3) Circulating Purification System
Its core is an energy-saving continuous scraper sand return system, the optimal alternative to wind honeycomb floors. A telescopic cylinder drives the sliding scraper body to reciprocate, and polyurethane scrapers swing to propel projectiles into the screw conveyor. It consists of grating floors, screw conveyors, bucket elevators, BE full-curtain type shot-sand separators and other components.
4) Bogie Car Conveying System
It adopts a flat car structure with a load capacity of 20 tons. The speed reducer drives steel wire ropes to pull the flat car into the cleaning chamber. The rails are GB 12KG standard rails. A polyurethane scraper is installed in front of each wheel to scrape off scattered projectiles and prevent the wheels from being jammed by projectiles, ensuring unobstructed free conveyance of workpieces.
5)dust extraction system
Three-stage dust removal technology is adopted: auxiliary dust collector + low-resistance cyclone separator + cartridge pulse backblowing dust collector. Polyester membrane-coated filter cartridges with a filtration precision of 7 micrometers are equipped, achieving a dust removal efficiency of ≥99% and a dust emission concentration of ≤30mg/m³. Automatic pulse backblowing is used for ash cleaning, and dust collection barrels are installed under the ash hoppers to prevent secondary dust emission.
6) Electrical Control System
PLC control, three-phase alternating current of 50Hz/380V. The shot blaster, main gate, maintenance door, pellet controller and pellet circulation system are all equipped with electrical interlock and self-locking mechanisms to ensure reliable equipment operation and personnel safety. The lighting adopts staged control and turns on synchronously with the spray guns.
7) Sand and dust separation section
Two-stage wind separation separator: the first stage is a cyclone inertial separator (with a dust removal efficiency of approximately 90%), and the second stage is a screen-type separator. It can effectively separate impurities smaller than or equal to 0.1 mm. For abrasives with a high breakage rate such as quartz sand, a high-precision mechanical screen separator can be optionally equipped, achieving a separation accuracy of over 99%.
8)Storage Hopper Section
After separation, the abrasive material is temporarily stored in the storage hopper. When the sandblasting machine runs out of abrasive, the hopper automatically replenishes it. A rotary paddle level switch is configured for automatic control, ensuring continuous, uninterrupted sandblasting operations.

The robot precisely controls blast distance, blast angle, traverse speed, and blasting pressure, ensuring uniform treatment results across all workpieces and completely eliminating the inconsistencies inherent in manual operation.
Advantages of Choosing the DISA Robotic Sandblasting Booth
Superior Consistency and Finished Product Quality
Free from the adverse effects of human error and operator fatigue, the robotic system achieves sub-millimeter motion repeatability (±0.05 mm). With uniform blast pattern overlap, every cycle produces a consistent surface roughness and cleanliness level, ensuring reliable and stable adhesion of subsequent coatings.
Significantly Higher Production Efficiency
Capable of unmanned continuous operation, the system reduces process cycle time by 40% to 60% compared to manual sandblasting. Under most operating conditions, the equipment can run 24/7 around the clock, delivering 2 to 8 times the throughput of manual sandblasting.
Comprehensive Operator Safety
Operators remain entirely outside the blasting zone, managing the equipment remotely. This drastically minimizes human exposure to dust, noise, and high-pressure abrasives, while also eliminating physical strain. The result is a significantly reduced risk of workplace injury and long-term protection of operators’ health.
Optimized Abrasive and Energy Savings
A closed-loop abrasive recovery and recirculation system substantially increases abrasive utilization. Precision robotic control prevents overspray and abrasive waste. Combined with a high-efficiency dust collection and filtration system, the booth not only maintains a clean workshop environment but also reduces overall energy consumption.
Simple and Intuitive Operation
After brief training, a single operator can manage the entire system using a joystick, teach pendant, or touchscreen HMI (Human-Machine Interface). The system supports offline programming and can store hundreds of workpiece processing programs, enabling rapid changeover when switching between different workpieces.
